Pre-Wedding Stress

Your wedding day is supposed to be the happiest day of your life, right? But why is it so stressful? The invitations are not the way you wanted them; the bakers messed the cake up - instead of strawberries and cream, it is chocolate! To make matters worse, a week before the big day, the wedding dress is still not ready, and not to forget “those relatives” that always criticize you. The most stressful part is that you just can’t get rid of the feeling that you didn’t consider everything well enough, before you made the decision to get married... What if your marriage fails? What if he does not come?

Ok, calm down, these thoughts are running through every bride’s head. And it’s normal; the marriage is something completely new and unknown for you. These concerns don’t mean that you didn’t think carefully enough before making this decision, all they do is freaking you out. The marriage guides don’t include pre-wedding stress, so here we have put together some ideas on how to deal with all the stress and excessive amount of energy.

Here is what you can do - try to make use of your stress. Use your energy to improve the wedding organization and to double-check all the details like the honeymoon and (don’t forget!) your mutual life with your partner from now on. Going to a gym or spa will also decrease the level of stress. This will help you spend a lot of energy, and you will look even better on the Big day.

If the stress is draining your energy and you feel tired, try to:

  • Eat more fresh fruits.
  • Spend at least 15 minutes a day in direct sunlight.

Did you know that the sunlight is a natural antidepressant (and indeed so is the chocolate)? If you are still very nervous, you can ask a psychologist for help or (if you feel that ??visiting a psychologist is way too extreme) you can read some literature on the subject - guide books about self-help and stress management are very helpful and can give you some on-the-point answers.
