Ghost The youngsters, gifted with exceptional psionic powers are taken by the government and trained in order to benefit as much as possible form their potential. When they grow up, they become Ghosts – the elite troops of the Terran army. A single Ghost is capable of bringing down couple enemies.

Use of Ghost

  • Can attack both ground and air units.
  • Can kill units almost instantly with their Sniper round ability.
  • Ghosts can be put in bunkers for damage, range and protection boost.
  • The tactical Nukes bring their enemies to their knees.
  • Can become invisible.
  • Their electromagnetic pulse can wipe out enemies’ energy or shields.
  • Strong against Infestor, High Templar and Raven.
  • Weak against Zergling, Stalker and Marauder.

Abilities

 

Cloak

Cloak - Makes the unit invisible. While cloaked they can be revealed only by certain units.

Sniper Round

Sniper Round – A single shot that ignores the victim’s armor and deals 45 points of damage.

EMP

EMP - A shot that burns energy points, neutralizes energy shields and inflicts 100 points of damage.

Tactical Nuke

Tactical Nuke - Calls down a devastating Nuclear bomb that land after 20 sec and deal 300 damage to units in an area and 500 to buildings.

VS Terran

Ghosts don’t find much usage when fighting other Terrans, but they can still drain all the energy from Medivacs and this way disable them for a while. Also, they can devastate the energy of Ravens and Banshees, making them an easy prey. The Ghost can also EMP the enemy’s Orbital Command this way you stop your opponent from calling drones and revealing areas. Once you do this you can immediately call a nuke, because if your enemy doesn’t have any ravens, he/she can’t find your Ghost. But its main task in such games remains calling tactical Nukes.

VS Protoss

The Ghost is a vital unit when it comes to battles versus a Protoss, because of its EMP round shot that nullifies the shields and energy of the Protoss’ troops in the area. Especially useful against Immortals, High Templars and Sentries. Also this Ghost ability reveals for a short time invisible units such as the Dark Templars or the Observers. This ability alone can protect your troops from incoming Feedbacks.

VS Zerg

Against the Zerg these troops are used mainly for their Snipe ability and tactical Nukes. Still they can use the EMP on Infestors to stop them from casting spells.

 

Countermeasures

 

VS Terran

  • Mark your main structural base as control 1 and be ready to reveal multiple areas with the Scanner Sweep ability.
  • Focus fire the Ghost, once you have detected him.
  • Placing Siege Tanks next to Turrets is a good combination against Ghosts.
  • Use your own Ghosts to blast EMP shots in random places, because invisible units that get hit by these shots are temporary revealed.

VS Protoss

  • Build Photon Cannons in the corners of your base.
  • If the Ghost has already begun the Nuke preparation, you can use the Phoenix's ability, Gravitation Beam, to lift him up in the air and this way you will cancel the nuke.
  • Always keep an Observer in your army, if your opponent is a Terran.

VS Zerg

  • Always aim for them and try to kill them as quickly as possible.
  • Fast-morph your Overlords into Overseers and send them to patrol around your base.
  • Create Spore Crawlers in the corners of your base.
