He was then thrown in prison on the Korhal planet, but the son of Arcturus Mengsk - Valerian, released him. Raynor received an offered to join the Mengsk's revolution group in the fight against the Confederacy and he accepted without a second thought. But in the final strike against the Confederacy, on the planet Tarsonis, the rebels used a psi emitter that broadcasts waves that only the Zerg can understand. After this action, the whole planet was overrun by the Swarm and the Confederacy was defeated. Mengsk left his troops including Raynor and Sarah Kerrigan - Jim’s beloved and a commander. Raynor managed somehow to escape, but Kerrigan was captured by the Zerg. After the defeated of the Confederacy, Arcturus Mengsk pronounced himself as emperor of the new Dominion order. After this mission Raynor left the Dominion. In search of vengeance for his lost love, he started his own team called the Raynor’s Rebels, which started a liberating campaign against Arcturus Mengsk's rule. What’s more, Jim soon learned that Sarah has been transformed into the deadly Queen of Blades – commander of the Swarm. After many battles against the Terran Dominion, Raynor was officially pronounced the worst enemy of the new order. Furthermore he is forced to fight his beloved one too, because the former Kerrigan is now leading the whole Swarm into a brutal war against the Terran. Raynor’s only hope is his new powerful ally, the mighty Protoss, whose trust he gained throughout epic campaigns.

He grew up was a young boy, seeking adventures, so later on he decided to join the Confederacy's Marine Corps. In the war against the Kel-Morian Terran he demonstrated amazing skills like leading operations and making tactics. But being a simple commander was not enough for Mengsk and even though the war was still on, he left this division and began to travel to the nearest planets seeking for a good career as merchant. Arcturus succeeded in making a good career, but soon his father turned against the Confederacy by declaring their own planet, Korhal, independent. The Confederacy replied by slaughtering Mengsk’s entire family. The people of Korhal were on his father’s side and proclaimed him a liberator. The Confederacy realized that they have lost control over the planet’s population and decided to exterminate them. The entire planet was then blasted with nuclear bombs that destroyed all life-forms. At the time of the tragedy, Arcturus was on a nearby planet and witnessed the horrible act. After this tragedy he formed a group of rebels, known as the Sons of Korhal. From this day on Arcturus Mengsk’s hunger for revenge was his leading him. Soon he managed to defeat the Confederacy with the help of other planets that favored his cause.
